Ever wonder how to change an RV awning?

Have you ever looked at an RV awning and wondered how they attach those suckers?

Well, we now know! We had a new awning installed on Prince Reindeer and were so awestruck at the installer's prowess that it never occurred to us to take some photos.  However, we got a second chance when Buck decided to get a new awning for his fifth wheel....here's what it looked like:

First you have to get the old awning off..note the vise grips on the roller top left

17 revolutions to release the spring inside the roller

Voila! one loose awning!!

Then you detach the bottom

And slide the top seam out of its channel...

...sliding, sliding....it's a BIG piece of fabric!!

Before you know it it's time to slide the new awning in....

...and there she is....

The wrinkles will fall out in due course.....

Tighten, tension and test....

Hey! It works....and looks great!  Ron (the installer) told us he did eight of these yesterday!!
